In a lot of people's eyes a partnership with Mr Thibeault is a partnership with the devil. Your little fairy tale about the tax base and jobs is just that a fairy tale. The mayor verbally promised a lot of people that a waste transfer station would not go in on lower Broadway. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want my teenager working in or near such a facility.

Also, Thibeault's waste plant down on Boston Street was ordered by the DEP to clean up his act. Thibeault chose to ignore the DEP and has been fined by the DEP. This has been going on for years. Have you ever been to Stop and Shop and smelled the disgusting odors coming from Wood Waste? Had your car covered in soot? What about the fiasco he has caused in Newburryport? Ask those residents if he is a "good neighbor."

It doesn't matter how you spin it, Mr Thibeault is not a good corporate member of our community. He does nothing unless there is something in it for himself. Do a little research on the man. Check with the State. Check with Newburryport.

Massdee....I'm sure there is some truth to your characterization of the man...but...HE OWNS THE LAND!! Should the mayor just work through the courts to resolve the current lawsuit and then not do any business with the man? we shoud force him to leave the land vacant and hope he sells it? Here's a question for Mayor Massdee....how should this be handled?

Today was Barry Doyle's last day also. He gave his 2 week notice. The Director of City Services is now in charge of this department. Saving money is one thing, overloading a Department head is another. Let's see how this works in the next couple of weeks. He will be head of City Services, Facility Maintenence, parks, cemetary, highway. and also overseeing the mechanics. I believe there was someone hired for that position, but the Director still oversees that department.

So, because "He OWNS THE LAND" the rest of us have to sit back and keep our mouths shut. I don't think so! The mayor should have never promised his supporters that a waste transfer station would "NOT" go in on lower Broadway. He was not being totally honest to his supporters.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree, but I do want to thank you for bringing this issue back into the fore front. The voters need to remember promises our elected officials make.

I'm done with this issue until something new comes out of city hall. Have a great night!

Jeff Mejia will be taking Rick Milley's position at the Rec.

Jeff Mejia?? Well, that's an inside job! The Solicitors husband? Totally… nothing against her… but I don’t see any reason to replace Rick with him.

Emile,
Who is Jeff Mejia? Is Tails correct in thinking it is the acting solicitor's husband?

just wondering:

You've just recently joined us and have done nothing but question, criticize, and contradict. It appears you're here to try to bring us in line. Don't bother. It won't work. No matter how you try to spin it, we all know Thibeault is NOT a nice man, NOT a good corporate neighbor, and NOT what we want in this city.

We know he owns the land. The big question is............. Does he own the mayor? Owning the land doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants.

Let me answer your question to massdee. Yes, let's find a way to prevent him from doing any more damage to this city. Let's settle our issues through the courts and not do business with him. He is NOT what this city needs or wants!

I know there is a lot of crap on the Mirror… so please don’t jump down my throat about the mirror… but there is a post on there that says the Mayor hired him to replace Rick Millie so the Acting City Solicitor can find a loop hole for Thiebault. Of course I can not confirm that but it does make sense. “To me” it’s more about hiring friends and I don’t like the fact that Thiebault has been a big topic and they are trying to paint a pretty picture of him. I just don’t like the sounds of all this and Rick is another that did not need replacing. Rick did a lot at the Rec Center and I understand Jeff has a few baseball leagues, Suffolk, Cal Ripken so I can not see how he can dedicate himself the way Rick did. Rick is a phenomenal person and during the tanker accident he was right there opening the rec center and helping victims not to mention all the projects he had planned for the spring to keep the kids off the streets. More and more, I am not liking what I am hearing and see.

I thought the Milley Family publicly supported Carlo's run for the Mayor's Office. I know Jerry Sheehan's family supported Carlo.

Strange way for Carlo to thank his supporters, by firing them.

Jerry Sheehan and his family supported Carlo in hopes of [his] continued employment. The support was self serving and Carlo did the right thing by terminating him. There's no question that he was in way over his head and wasn't getting the job done.

The taxpayers of this city shouldn't be required to provide jobs for incompetent people because they hold signs and write checks.

Before anyone jumps down my throat...............

I am speaking about Sheehan specifically and anyone else who falls into the incompetant/incapable category. I am not referring to Rick Milley, Walter Rice, or anyone else who has been terminated in spite of doing their job well.

I agree, justme, but that is politics in Everett. I will never advocate incompetancy on the job. But most people who campaign for a candidate on a local level do not do it for a noble cause, but rather for a job for a family member, or consideration getting a permit or variance.

justme, you said "The taxpayers of this city shouldn't be required to provide jobs for incompetent people because they hold signs and write checks."

I hope Carlo keeps your comment in mind when he appoints people who worked on, or had ties to, his campaign, to positions of city employment.

People are wondering if Rick Milley was let go as revenge for the firing of Bowdridge. Carlo's friends are friends of Billy's. That would be a sleazy thing to do since Rick was doing a great job down there. He would bend over backwards for anyone, and is a great asset to the youth of this city.
