                      | I know the woman interviewed in the piece. I had no idea he lived in her neighborhood. I think other people are going to come forward.

Everett School Custodian, JV Basketball Coach Arraigned On
 Child Rape, Indecent Assault Charges
EVERETT – Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone’s office informed the
public today that an Everett man has been arraigned in connection with the alleged rape
and indecent assault of a 12-year-old boy.
Robert J. Shea, 57, of Everett, was arrested Sunday evening and arraigned this
morning in Malden District Court on charges of forcible child rape (two counts) and
indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 (three counts). Malden District Court
Judge Matthew J. Nestor ordered Shea held on $15,000 cash bail with conditions
including: no contact with victim and his family, no unsupervised contact with children
under age 16, and GPS monitoring.
Shea is employed as a custodian and the junior varsity basketball coach at the
 Everett Public Schools.
“These are truly disturbing allegations,” District Attorney Leone said. “We allege
that the defendant, who was known and trusted by the victim, took advantage of that trust
by repeatedly raping and assaulting this vulnerable 12-year-old boy.”
According to the facts of the case as presented at arraignment, it is alleged that the
defendant, who was known to the boy, repeatedly raped and assaulted the victim at
Shea’s Everett residence and in the former Everett High School building, to which Shea
had access as a custodian. The rapes and assaults are alleged to have occurred over a
 period of months in 2007.

The victim came forward to Everett Police on Friday. Everett Police and the
Middlesex District Attorney’s Child Abuse Unit conducted the investigation which led to
 Shea’s arrest on Sunday.
Members of the public who have information that they believe could be helpful to
the investigation can call the Middlesex District Attorney’s Child Abuse Unit at 781-897-
 8400.
Shea will next appear in Malden District Court on May 5 for a pretrial conference.
These charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until
 proven guilty.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michael Chinman.
The victim witness advocate is Kara Grant. The case is being investigated by the Everett
Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Child Abuse
 Unit.

                      | I think you may be confusing this with a story concerning a coach in Marblehead. |
