| Didn't someone on the Board of Alderman say a couple of weeks ago that they want to start seeing Everett people hired? I know that the Board of Alderman can not decide, but it's better morale for the city. It was the Mayor himself who supported hiring Everett residents for Fire and Police. He needs to stand by what he supports too himself too. He does not look credible when he goes hires Taunton and Southbridge people at ridiculous salaries. |

How is it not credible to put more emphasis on someones qualifications instead of their mailing address? |

What's not credible is standing up and saying you believe in something, then going and doing the exact opposite.

If all (and I mean ALL) qualifications are equal, then hire the resident. If they're not............... hire the Best! |

| It was Alderman Marchese who made the statement at the last BOA meeting. I also believe that the job should go to the best candidate, however that will be measured in this case. However, if there were two candidates of fairly equal qualifications and one were an Everett resident, I'd like to see preference given to the Everett person. Isn't that essientially what was done with the VSO position? |

| When Ms Deveney is gone, how many people would be left on the mayor's staff? Would there be enough to not fill the position? Could the others pick up her work, thus saving the city some money? Just a thought. |

Exactly.....I thought that was the justification for the big raise? All it proves is the quality of work is going downhill. To overburden someone like that is wrong.
She's a lawyer, she went to school to be a lawyer....not a purchasing agent. Sure, in the beginning everyone says they can do it, because they want the money. Is she certified to be a purchasing agent? I know that was a big issue with the last two purchasing agents and if anyone....she should be certified, since she went to school to be a lawyer. |
