I have heard the same thing. I agree with you, sounds like a conflict of interest.

I just read this on Topix. Can anyone confirm it?
This Wednesday evening Carlo DeMaria had his "kick off" meeting at Orsonga Function Hall on Main Street. Freddy Forestaire introduced the Mayor to the audience. This has never happened before in Massachusetts history. Never mind Everetts history. A superintendent introducing and asking the people to vote for Carlo. This decsion by Carlo will cost a few votes

Couldn't he find a qualified Everett person? What's with the Somerville hire? |

I could be wrong, but I thought the MIS director was not going to be replaced?
Is the whole ISD consoldation thing out the window now?
I dont understand hiring all these people from outside the city? I know I'd prefer my tax dollars go to an Everett resident. When hiring the former Chief of Staff and Budget Director, there was no one good enough in Everett for those positions. I guess that still stands, since his new Chief of Staff is from Somerville. I also guess there’s not one qualified person from Everett to be an MIS Director either. |

I was told Jason Marcus was collecting signatures during the Police Memorial Services.
Is it possible to be more disrespectful than that? What a dope!
I was also told Ray Grace is the candidate for the BOA in Ward 2 that is living in Malden. He owns a house in Everett but does not live there.
-Marcus is talking about his court case all over the city (more than likely against the advice of his attorney) and had a bit of an altercation with Simonelli during the EPD Memorial Service.
-DeMaria used his favorite old phrase during his campaign kick-off on Wednesday... "Gone are the days"

Anyone that knows Ray Grace knows he doesn't live in Everett. That's a very tacky thing to do.
Speaking of tacky, out of line, disgraceful, is Jason Marcus! Indeed he was collecting signatures during a Police Memorial Service! You cant get more disrespectful than that.
He stood up a few months back and said he called 70 of his constituents during a snow storm and did a mini poll about Wood Waste and not ONE of them were bothered by Wood Waste.
Why didn't he go to those 70 "supposed" people (which I do not believe for ONE second) and get signatures? He should just focus on June 30th and STOP humiliating himself and disrespecting our law enforcement.

A rumor I had heard a while back has resurfaced. Alderman Frank Nuzzo will be getting a city job. The way the new rumor goes, Nuzzo will be giving up his Alderman Ward 1 seat when he gets his new position. Matewsky will take out papers to run for Alderman Ward 1 and Leo McKinnon will take out papers to run for Alderman at Large.
This is all unconfirmed.

Frank Nuzzo getting a city job? How sweet it is! He presently receives approx 6-7k for being an alderman. With a city job, he will more than likely earn between 40-60k. My understanding is that the amount you receive for your retirement is based on the salary earned for the last three years. Nice..... |

I wouldn't mind seeing Nuzzo gone but I'm sick & tired of these guys taking a city job for a few years and giving their pension a BIG boost! The pension is based on their highest three years earnings so if he works for 3 years @ $40,000, that's what the pension is based on. NOT the $6000/yr (I'm just throwing out a number here, I have no clue what they're being paid) he's actually been paid while serving on the council. |

Here's a Marcus rumor....He will not be going after the BOA seat. He is going to concentrate on the Common Council position and the Charter Review Commission. If elected to both he will serve on both.

Well......Once we are certain, that will be good news.
I heard Brian Zaniboni from city services is so nasty to all the employees and he verbally attacked a worker and the poor man had a stroke, and he's only in his 40’s.
I also heard that city services is no longer using the gas cards and the gas use is all on the "honor system" with no protection.
I’d like to see the true usage on that. I wonder how many times private vehicles are being filled, both employee and vendor.

I thought there was some kind of card thingy to keep track of who and how much fuel people are using? Why would any vendor be allowed to get fuel at our City Yard? Maybe the city council should think about having camera's installed. If this is true, it's not right. It's stealing from the taxpayers.
I hope the employee who had a stroke is okay.
