| I imagine that the BOA can do most anything that they so chose to fill the seat. I think the question is what's the most appropriate action, especially since the next election cycle has already started? |

HMMMMM.... what an interesting prospect huh? Lets see. "Should" they chose to "appoint", you'd have to expect "some" influence by the corner office. I would bet my best pair of boxers the McGonagle wouldn't be the magji's first choice. I'm guessing he'd be his last since he HAS to expect that McGonagle would be independent of his auroa and would finally bring some debate into the council. The rest of them, with the exception of Vancampen have been acting as if they were in a freaking trance for eighteen months..... So, I guess that should there be an appointed Alderman at Large, it would be DiDominico since he seems to be in the same haze the rest of them are in. Besides I still believe he's waiting for Brune to go so he can jump in his grave. That's been out there for quite some time. Dont ask me why, but I have the feeling that he's only in the race for the Alderman at Large seat at the behest of His Honor or T Honor.
I agree with the Tetman. Since we are already in a campaign season, you would think that they would go with that; however, this Mayor doesn't seem to like to play be rules (he must have been one of the spoiled brats when he was a little boy) and would prefer to stack the deck in his favor should he need a Wood Waste vote from now to December.

I thought it was the Board of Aldermen who make the appointment not the Mayor.
Choices are;
1-Fill it by appointment until the next election (this year)
2-Leave it vacant until the next election(this year)
Is that correct?
If that is correct I say leave it vacant until the election. |

You're correct Paul. The Board would vote should the question to replace be placed before it. However, the City's Charter is where one would look for the answer. I agree with you all that because of the time of year and close proximity to the election they, waiting is the way to go. HOWEVER,we all know that the rules, the Charter, or the desire of the people come second to the self absorbed whimsies of Mr. T and the fatman.

Is this true? I just read it over on Topix.
I just heard that the city is hiring a new supervisor to take over the Rec Center. Seems that the City of Everett posted on Craigslist that they were seeking to fill this position. Advertised on Craigslist? Are we serious? Obviously they didn't want to get many applicants for the position. This is low key advertising so that they can cover their backs to say hey we posted an opening. The person that is reportedly getting this position is from Somerville! Sound familiar? Gee I wonder how they "FOUND" this applicant?

The job was budgeted for in the FY10 budget. The ad also appeared in all three Everett papers from July 8 - 10; seemed like overkill to me. I don't know when the job was first posted, but the time period for accepting resumes from the dates of these ads seems pretty short.
A Craigs List posting also confirmed that the city is looking for a new water superintendent too, as was reported on Topix last week. Anybody know anything more about that? |

Over on Topix they are saying the person hired was the former Rec Director for the City of Somerville. Is that true? It seems we are getting a lot of former Somerville employees. Are there no qualified people left in Everett?

Is this true that Sergio is running against Millie and Wayne for Alderman Ward 1? He knows he won’t make it, so which person is he trying to hurt, or take votes away from, Millie or Wayne? I may not like it, but let’s be realistic, Wayne has a huge voter base in that ward, and will win.
