Temporary appointments don't need to be approved. |

So, what you are saying is, as of right now, the city does not have a Budget Director, a Purchasing Agent. a Personnel Director and and an Assistant Treasurer. Who is minding the store? Has Carlo appointed a new Director for the Rec, yet? I know Peter Pet has taken it on for the time being, but I thought there were rumors of a Nuzzo appointment. Or will that happen after Nuzzo's Wood Waste vote? |

Not a full time Purchasing Agent but Jill is doing it. As I already said, she is a lawyer. The Mayor also stated at the town meeting that "anyone" can do a budget (when asked if he will hire another budget director) He said it's not a full time job, it was made out to be over the years and would consider hiring someone to that and possibly grant writing. Isn't that what the executive assistant is for, or even, Matt Laidlaw?? He also said his legal team can do the budget. Not sure how that's possible putting in so many hours to find loopholes for Thibeault (who by the way) NEVER fell through with his word to get those piles out of Wood Waste in June. |

The legal office does seem to be an issue at this time. Ms. Deveney never officially joined it. Mrs. Mejia is scheduled to take over some personnel duties when Mr. Henderson is gone (when the Mayor said the end of the month, I assumed he really meant September 30th, the GIC deadline. Does anyone know for sure?) Ms. Barringer is the temporary purchasing agent. The other attorney was/is scheduled to be let go after contracts were negotiated. It appears to me that a department that seemed to be somewhat of a bottleneck already for getting things done just keeps getting stretched thinner and thinner. But the Mayor didn't think it was a problem.
Anybody can put together a budget except for, as rumor has it, Janice Vetrano. But an effective budget director should be able to manage a budget. Wasn't part of the mayor's justification for bringing in Carlisle, before we even knew his name, was that he was going to be able to save the city millions of dollars by the end of the year? While I agree with the mayor that the budget director position isn't a full-time, year-round position, there is definitely a need for someone to take a long, hard look at the budget to see if there really are some ways to save some money or that claim was just a crock. We also need to start planning for more than one year at time. Hopefully, these are things that can happen with or without a budget director. |

So is this when Colleen Meijer is suppose to take over as Personnel Director? She is the City Solicitor who is suppose to work for us. I'm telling you, this is not going to work. He can throw that qualified competent staff line from here to kingdom come as far as I am concerned. In a city this size with all the retired employees, a Personnel Director is essential. Of course they all say they can do it instead......they want the money. |

It's not just that they want the money........... Consolidating positions is the only way he can justify the outrageous salaries he's paying these people. The problem is, the consolidations aren't being approved by state ethics so the employees / retirees / citizens lose. The only one making out in this deal is the people cashing the checks.............
It's too bad he's not man enough to step up and admit he made a mistake and start over. Instead he keeps compounding the problem by pretending it doesn't exist!
Morale at city hall is even worse than when honest john was running the place. This city needs help and it needs it quickly. |

Thanks for the info, Justme. I assumed that mayor probably had his "internal clock" turned forward to September when he made that statement about the end of the month. |

That's too bad. I thought ECTV had greatly improved under Mr Councell's watch. I wish him the best.
Does anyone know who will be taking over for him? |

That's disappointing news, and a huge mistake. Do we know who's replacing him? Are they putting Matt Laidlaw back in charge? |

Citizen,
I don't know anything but Matt Laidlaw was my first thought.
Does anyone know how many people work in the ECTV department? Who are they? |

No personnel breakdown was included in the budget for ECTV. So the best I can do is the following link; obviously, it's not up to date. You must be logged in to see this link. |
