The Mayor motioned to Jones, after Jones spoke at the microphone, to meet him out in the hall. The two went into the hallway and then Thibeault followed. The Mayor did not raise his voice, it was Thibeault and Jones arguing. |

I don't know what happened in the hallway because I watched on TV. What happened to our new microphone system that took all summer to do? It's was horrible to listen to. Someone from ECTV should have made adjustments, or something.
I did not like the Mayor's response to an Everett citizen that was standing there telling her stories of suffering, and telling the truth, and he's yelled back at her that "HE takes offense"
This will ruin him, and it's his own doing. It's his own actions all along. Blaming everyone for Thibeault's problems EXCEPT the one to blame, and that is Thibeault. |

I understand Wood Waste is a legitimate business and that there is a need for this type of business. The problem is with Mr Thibeault and his business practices. He has never shown any good faith on the promises made by Attorney Rossi. He has thumbed his nose at the city, DEP, and the EPA many times. That is well documented and you don't have to search very hard to find that info.
Why would we trust him now to do the right thing? His track record shows, that once he gets what he wants, he does whatever he wants and the laws be damned. As long as MR Thibeault is making money, he could care less about the health and environment of the people of the City of Everett.
I do not trust him to do the right thing on lower Broadway. I feel very strongly that he should immediately begin constructing a long term enclosed facility right where he is on Boston Street.
As far as the old City Yard goes, the mayor stated it was directly on the Parkway. It is not. Wendy's, Harley Davidson, the used car lot and the Parkway Pub are all in front of the City Yard directly on the Parkway. I for one, am sick of the half truth's and the spin coming out of this Administration. |

The fact is clear. Eight years ago the proposed development of that site was for commercial garaging and that is the same plan they are giving us now. There has been no thought given to what the land is best utilized for or what would be best for the city; its what Thebault wants.
Anyone, and I mean, anyone can clearly see other cities and towns, who value their communities only allow development that ENHANCES their city. They have learned from the past that taking the time to plan development has been positive for their cities and towns. They have taken the time to develop well thought out, forward thinking, PLANS,. The plan should be one that looks for like businesses which will compliment each other; therefore promoting success.
A forward, hard-working government would be doing that type of outreach and recruiting for us. THAT IS WHAT WE PAY THEM FOR..... to PROTECT our interest!!!!!!!! Make the hard decisions!!!!!!!!!!
We are NOT getting that my dear taxpayers/residents. We're getting absolutely ZIPPO!!!!!!!!
I agree with Massdee....... the proof IS in the pudding. Nothing personal whats so ever.............but if you don't show compliance and community respect from the outset; how can we trust you? Not only that..... but we've been told that he's told mayors in the past that he if they didn't get what he wanted in their administrations; he'd hold on and he would wait till he could get what he wants. That day is here. He not only owns a quarter of our city, but he owns OUR city government as well.
If you have a Ground Round restaurant, would you want to be next to a dump? If you owned a supermarket, would you want to be next to a dump.... and the best one..............how many think that in ANY WAY , SHAPE, OR MANNER that any residential or commercial housing or office space would EVER EVER be built near that thing.......
The issue that truly gets me is this. Who do you know that makes an offer on a property and the usual 90 day goes by without the exchange of any money or an agreement signed and its a valid sale? I know that the city was in court to ask for a ruling on this; but that changed when EOB got in.
That's prime property and with an eminent domain taking giving that property an egress onto Route 16; the value of that property would skyrocket. NOT IN EVERETT.............NOT ONE of our city councilors or aldermen even asked the question. We handed it to an outside developer to make PROFIT on our backs for a 8 yr. old price. What SINGLE thing in your life has remained the same price in eight years?
Smoke and mirrors, lies and deceit.......... and here we sit.

The Common Council that I remember in attendance; (I could of missed one or two)
M.Cardello, Cornelio, P Napolitano, Simonelli, Miller, Caralis, Bruno, DiFlorio, Hicks, and Sarnie. |

Sal DiDomenico was there too. Other than that, I believe your head count is correct. |

So, just to be fair, the following Common Council members did not go to the Public Meeting:
King, Sierra, Smith, D Napolitano, McKinnon, B Cardello and Rainieri |

Millie Cardello has spoken up in the past for ward one. What about the other two and the alderman? I wish we had more councilors like the one that spoke from Newburyport, Thomas Jones.
I now believe if you work for the city and the Mayor is your boss, it is a conflict to be on the city council. All the Alderman from ward one cares about is the football stadium and people are sick of it. I hope they show it at the poles next year. |

I just read this on one of the Newburport blogs.
Friday, November 14, 2008 This is getting good! I thought this little anecdote, sent in a comment to the post about the Everett mayor .... ummm ... discussing Newburyport in a public meeting, to merit a stand alone:
After Thomas Jones spoke, Billy pointed to the Mayor to get in the hallway and they followed Thomas Jones out there. Everyone in the audience heard yelling and they had to close the doors. Right after that, Mayor Carlo DeMaria tried to wrap the meeting up quick.
(Tom Jones is one of our city councillors.)
Did no news outlet send a reporter to this meeting? I'm assuming it was the one held Oct. 29, in Everett.

For anyone to dis Newburyport, not care what goes on, and blame them, does not even have an ounce of class that they have.
Did Mayor DeMaria put ear muffs on, when the resident of Newburyport said his son lost five years of his life over this landfill???? Dont you think that man would have preferred to be home with his son, rather than more landfill crap. This is all caused by Billy Thibeault......not Newburyport.
You know.....I thought this was hysterical, but you know what.....it's no class. I'm sure Billy will take him in as a tenant in his Gloucester castle.

Just watched the youtube video.
First, I can say with 100% certainty that Councilor Jones would not tell the Mayor that he'd sign any agreement with New Ventures. There were 2 other Newburyport Councilors who attended the meeting but did not speak publicly, Councilor Connell and Derrivan. I cannot speak for either of them.
Secondly, the City of Newburyport does not and never has owned the landfill. The property has always been privately owned and operated. This can be verified by the Essex County Registry of Deeds (online).
Thirdly, if Crow Lane Landfill is designated as a 21E site, Newburyport, along with every other entity where trash originated from will have responsibility. This would include several other communities and developers whom Thibeault has completed their demolition or trucked in their demolition debris. It will become very dirty (no pun intended)...but that is the law.
Fourth, on November 14, 2008, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced that she is seeking a contempt order against New Ventures for not complying with the 2006 Preliminary Injunction. He has failed to dump leachate tanks, staffed the landfill, maintained the flare, etc. etc.
Don't give up the battle, that is what Thibeault is hoping for, we will do whatever we can to support the citizens of Everett also. Thibeault must be forced to remove the odor causing material and not just dump in another residential neighborhood. Transparency is the key.

Thanks for the info. Please.... don't give up on the residents of Everett. The residents are fighting this, it's the administration and certain members on the city council that have promised jobs and contracts that are pushing this.
Others, have blinders on. Everett is a small city and relatives are involved, with the council too.
We are being told blatant lies about Wood Waste. I would have to research all the things that have been said, along with so many times we have heard...."Blame Newburyport"
See....here's the problem too. We are dealing with a very rich fellow that lives in a castle. The profit makers dont care about people that reside by Wood Waste and they dont care about dumping on lower Broadway either.
It's time for the City Council (not all) to stop helping the profit makers here.
Mayor DeMaria thinks, that we are dumb, and plays the card that we cant afford to fight him in court, so we should just give in. We are talking about peoples health and the health of the environment. I want this world to be a good place for my grandchildren and so on and so on. Thibeault is destroying the environment and it's time he is stopped.
The resolution is *not* allowing him to continue accepting waste and give him a truck route to lower Broadway.
It's time to hold his feet to the fire.....go to court.....get an injunction for him to STOP ACCEPTING MATERIALS....and get an order for him to truck that crap the waste that is already there OUT OF HERE..... and this administration is not doing enough of that. They make excuses and buy out the city council. They are telling the DEP that they want to "work with him" ......what does that tell you????
As for where the waste is going......I want to know that too. I don't trust this man and I can not as a human being, just not care where it goes or if it ends up in someone else's back yard.
We all know this owner has environmental issues in Maine and New Hampshire.
They want to burden lower Broadway instead. Even trucks at midnight, the residents will be disturbed. I wont even go into the reasons why lower Broadway is not acceptable.
Also, at the Public Meeting, I did not see one person that spoke up in favor of this....people may be quite, but no one is for this.
And....as for those on the city council with the family favors, promised jobs, promised contracts....go look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself if it's all worth selling the city out.
