My guess is because he's afraid of VanCampen doing something to identify how incompetent Carlo really is. |

I bet he would have canceled his vacation if he was left in charge. |

BIG MEETING AT CARLO'S HOUSE YESTERDAY 8/2/2010!
THE MAYOR, MATT LAIDLAW AND SEVERAL OTHERS FROM CITY HALL TALKED FOR HOURS.
WHAT DID THEY TALK ABOUT AND WHY AT HIS HOUSE?
IS CARLO THAT PARANOID THAT HE THINKS CITY HALL ISN'T SECURE ENOUGH TO MEET?
HIS DAYS OF STABBING PEOPLE IN BACK ARE COMING BACK TO HAUNT HIM EVEN HIS NEIGHBORS HAVE HAD ENOUGH.

It makes sense for his staff to go to Carlo since he isn't back to work after having hip surgery. |

If it's his staff...that's one thing. I'd like to know who the "others" are although no one from his staff should have to go to his house. He's been out of commission now for a few weeks and should have had an acting mayor. If someone feels this meeting was a violation of the open meeting law, then file a complaint.

I'm not any happier than a lot of other people with the way Carlo does things and the condition of the city. BUT, I really have a problem with people trying to start trouble. The fact that Carlo had people from city hall at his home doesn't have to mean anything negative.
If you know what went on & want to share, Whynot, then let's have it. If all you're doing is throwing sh*t to see what sticks, leave it alone. |

I cant speak for Card but I think what they were referring to was the 10 million dollar bond that the mayor is going after even though it was rejected by the alderman (so much for democracy)
The mayor accused the alderman of playing politics even though he has no one to blame but himself!
The aldermen were given this two days before a deadline and were basically told to rubber stamp it. Mike Marchese, Millie Cardello and Mike Mangan all rubber stamped it and BOY has Mike Marchese changed his tune all of a sudden…hmmm…
The alderman did make the right decision and not jump into a 10 million dollar burden on the taxpayers. Funny thing….the administration signed a consent agreement two years ago and has known about this, for two years, and kept it hush hush until two days prior of the deadline (so much for working together and being open and honest)
I know when they received this, an alderman had requested that someone from the state attend the meeting and instead what we got was someone from the engineering firm with a vested interest in the project.
The problem is with Boston Market Terminal and Chelsea but Chelsea was not on board to contribute any money. The city was going to take out the loan for Boston Market Terminal but we were putting ourselves at risk if BMT ever went under, the Everett taxpayers would have the burden on us. The administration did not have anything in writing from BMT (private property owner) and to this day, I never heard if Chelsea was on board (even though the administration has had two years to get Chelsea on board)
I could never had supported a 10 million dollar burden without any agreements and the bottom line is I don’t trust the mayor or his COS. Too many bad hires all to benefit his friends and his associates and as far as the COS she stated to the common council that we were going to be fined 25 thousand dollars a day for this. Come to find out, she got that off the DEP website. Was a little misleading to me and there’s been enough of that.

Thanks Tails! I was aware of the bond Carlo tried to shove down our throats just before the bell rang on iy. I thought Card was referring to something else. |

This was disturbing to read today. There is no excuse for this kind of spending in a city that is only three miles.
Everett spends more than 350 other cities/towns in the commonwealth.
$178.00 is the median and we spend $498.00. That is huge….. and our roads are still in deplorable condition. This is all to benefit friends and associates with contracts.
SNAPSHOT: COST OF PUBLIC WORKS PER RESIDENT, '09
By Matt Carroll, Boston Globe | Sept. 9, 2010 Public Works spending varies widely across the state, partly because it is a broad category that in one town can include activities not covered in another town. For instance, the category covers money spent per person on: highways, streets, snow and ice removal, waste collection and disposal, sewerage collection and disposal, water distribution, even street lighting and parking garages. The state median was $178.

This outrageous spending needs to stop. Our elected officials need to grow some and put an end to this.
If things don't change before the next election, I say, Vote Them All OUT..... |
