Does anyone know who the new Director is and what her qualifications are? Her predecessor was quite unpleasant, but was, I believe, qualified for the job. This loser is playing with half a deck.

Well, aren't your comments interesting....

Of course she has no idea what she is doing...she's old and out of touch....

Her qualifications are that she is the daughter of John Hanlon's uncle.....

A cousin of a Mayor....

What's wrong with that?????

The previous health director was an unpleasant and deceptive person who was not qualified for her job.....

She was related as well ....Ann Marie Ragucci Messina....Her degree was a sham....a disgrace to public health....

Did you catch the Ragucci name?......just checking....

Another cousin of a Mayor...

Can the Globe do a special investigation of Hanlon's appointments and hirings? Just like they did with Ragucci?

You never know what they may find....

It's a shame that the present and former administration consider public health such a low priority...

particularly with the avian flu upon us and the threat of bioterrorism at our doorstep ..

God help the businesses and the residents of Everett

Oh - who was it that ran on "no patronage hires?" "no more politics as usual?" "honesty and integrity?"

I have been told that Mr. Hanlon will not be finishing his term and that a certain young alderman will be president at such a lucky time.

I hate to say I told you so.........

but I have been saying this all along......

It's the only scenario that works....

My Dear Court,

Have you seen the front of City Hall is a filthy mess again?....

Same as before.....what a disgrace to see the property so full of litter.

You would think that Barry Doyle would schedule regular maintenance out front on Broadway.

Hey Barry...don't forget the cigaret butts out back. The tax payers use both of these doors to pay their taxes. Nice greeting when you visit at City Hall. Yeccch.

Emile - you did tell us so, but it was hard to believe. The kid barely won his last race.

I have seen just how bad city hall is. It's disgusting, but then - I always thought smoking was a filthy habit...and here's further proof. I hope that when the weather gets a little warmer, there will be regular maintenance of city hall property.

Speaking of Hanlon's appointments, why was is it when Mayor Ragucci placed Beth Debski as the Community Development Dir., then city clerk Hanlon, said that Ragucci should have picked someone in the city and was disgusted that Ragucci didn’t. Ragucci went into the reasons why he had to pick Beth Debski, a resident of Salem. However, why is it ok to have the new Community Dev. Director, Marzie Galazka, that resides in Lynn? Is Lynn better than Salem or do I detect hypocrisy? Also, then city clerk Hanlon voiced his concern about people that were qualified for certain city jobs AND that live in the city. However, Barry Doyle is from Middleton. Did Everett annex Middleton and I didn’t know? You’re going to tell me that there is not one person in the city qualified to do what he does?

Mayor Hanlon is apparently not adverse to saying one thing and doing another. He's doing exactly what the previous administration did. It's okay for him to do it though because he stands for honesty & integrity. Too bad he doesnt practice it.

I dont know if anyone else knows this but the BOH director has step down. Deb O'Neil is now the acting dept. head. Let's see what dinosaur Hanlon can put in there now. He's brought back just about every other dinosaur for dept. heads.

OK, OK,

Genuine you are correct on all counts.

The Pup and I have been on sabatical. The Original Health Director (Ms Pasquerella, the daughter of John Hanlon's uncle) appointed by Mayor Hanlon appeared to have some serious dependancy issues on prescription medicine. Not a good choice.

Mrs. O'Neil will be fine if she works a full schedule.

Of course, Mrs. O'Neil's very, very, very, and very, close friendship with the former Health Director Messina (who Mayor Hanlon let go) may not allow Mrs. O'Neil to be her own person and make her own decisions.

very close....

Another poor choice by the Mayor.

Emile...welcome back. Have you cracked the Da Vinci code yet?

I will tell you this; Deb O'Neill is a professional, and she can do the job. I know her personally and professionally, and I don't think that her appointment will be anything but positive for the city. Her relationship with Ms. Messina will not hinder her ability to do the job.

The Board of Health has started the lava siding (mosquito control) again for the summer. They are out in full force and they are to be commended. Funny the one thing City Hall is doing right Hanlon has no part in. Hmm????????

Louie,
Deb O'Neil is the director, three inspectors: Frank Dortenzio, Joe DeVito, and John O'Connor, and they have two guys for summer help, Ed Forosisky and Michael Lozzi.

Hello everyone,

Just checking in from Rome. The research is going well. Dan's next book should be outstanding. The Pup and I like it here but our thoughts are in Everett. Even the Pope has enjoyed our stories of the nonsense and political idiocy that goes on in Everett. His Eminence really has a good sense of humor.

Louie, there three members of the Board of Health, Dr. Erkan, Marie Tozzi and Debra Giunta. The others are employees of the Board of Health and answer to the Board. Also please don't overlook the nursing staff who, in addition to their regular duties, do all the hard work on the anti terrorist programs.

Ciao from the Vatican

The Pup

and
