Well, since the Devens Crops got cut down I don’t know where I'm gunna get my corn now. And I’m gunna miss that coyote. I nicknamed him Wiley; he was real nice.
Anyways, I heard Peter Pietrantonio had to do what Barry Doyle did not want to do. Peter also, from what I hear, has filed a grievance against Barry Doyle. According to Mr. Doyle, the Devens was, and still is, a gray area in the sense that no one knows who should take care of it, excluding the fact during the Ragucci Administration it was Facilities Maintenance. Ya think after about 9 months the gray area would become black and white but not with Johnny Boy at the helm.
And Court how about this one for a song:
Yesterday, All my troubles seemed so far away, Now it looks as though they're here to stay, Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be, There's a shadow hanging over me, Oh, yesterday came suddenly.
Why she Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say. I said, Something wrong, now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday, Love was such an easy game to play, Now I need a place to hide away, Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Why she Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say. I said, Something wrong, now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday, Love was such an easy game to play, Now I need a place to hide away, Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm.

The Real McCoy - thank you for joining in the "fun." It's a fabulous song. Any idea as to who the "shadow" is hanging over this administration?
You know - with seven mayors at city hall...we could start playing "whack-a-mole" with these people. |

Louie,
Court never said he moved anywhere,he posted
"we don't get the paper where I live anymore"
That means he used to get the paper where he is but doesn't anymore.
By the way--you intentionally left out the compliment to the School Dept. in the same article--I wonder why !
Get a life ! |

Kat, I did not hear that about George Keverian. Part of me says maybe he will run because he has been in politics and, in this area, is a political pundit on a lot of levels. However, the only thing with George is his age. I don't know how he could restart his political career in such a power position at his age. I do like George very much and I am not bashing him I'm just stating my opinion.
I heard that DeMaria and McGonagle are considering a run. If Van Campen doesn’t become the Alderman President then he'll wait for Hanlon to not run. Also, I hear that Chuck DiPerri may be considering a run also. I like DiPerri and would gladly campaign/vote for him in a heartbeat.
However, you also have the state rep. race. Whoever loses that could also maybe want to run for mayor, which would add an interesting dimension to the whole thing.

All this speculation about who is running for Mayor, who is thinking about running for Mayor and who definitely will not run for Mayor. I believe that no matter who runs that John Hanlon will win a second term and that will probably be his last. So to keep with the topic let us see who will run for Mayor in 2009. How about Bill Hart? Who will run in 2009? Are you kidding? Mr Honesty & Integrity may choose to run again in 2007, but you can bet your a$$ he's going to be a One Term Mayor! |

Mr. Dobbins, if you do not like what the current topic is then feel free to ignore it and do not write about it. People want to know who could be possibly running for Mayor because they’re desperate and want some glimmer of hope, since Johnny Boy has screwed things up so badly. Plus this is a political blog and we’re talking/predicting about politics….go figure huh?
Justme, I agree with you: Johnny Boy is a one-term mayor, assuming he doesn't take a sick leave if Van Campen becomes the Aldermanic President.
EverettsPride, in regards to Cathy Gover, when she lost the Alderman's race I heard she said she maybe possibly going to law school. Whether or not that comes to fruition or not, we'll have to wait and see.

This was one hell of a Council meeting. I'm gunna have to watch it again because I'm sure I'm going to forget some things.
However, the first issue I want to take is Councilmen Matwesky's remarks regarding the summer youth work program. I don't know who he's talking to, where he is coming from, or what he's seen, but here's what I've seen: I drove past the City Yards and I saw about 7 kids sitting inside the front on Norman St. doing nothing. Then I went to City Hall and I saw two girls just talking and another person sleeping, and I've seen this on more that one occasion, as have some of my friends. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are some kids working, but they're far and few in between.
Also, I don't know where this youth program is encouraging and transforming the youth as the good councilor alluded too. He makes it sound like these kids are going from 16-18 to 40 years old. Like this program is going to change their lives, and they're going to stay in Everett, and they've seen the light of God. They're kids and they're doing nothing and getting paid for it. That's all they know. This program, if done correctly, would have been nice but Hanlon and the Personnel Director really screwed things up, in the sense they overbooked and had more kids then they knew what to do with.
Secondly, where the hell is John Kryzovic? When did he leave? When did Victor Dragone become the new City Solicitor? Did I hear that right?
Lastly, and most importantly, Councilor Simonelli said what a lot of people have been thinking and/or saying about the lack of personnel in departments that enforce laws. I can not quote exactly but Simonelli said, on the lines of to Hanlon, we can have all the ordinances we want but who's going to enforce them? And then he went on to challenge Johnny Boy. Simonelli said we need more people in Code Enforcement to enforce and Hanlon said he's going to need more money then. I thought Johnny Boy wasn't going to come back for any more money no matter what? He said he wanted everything in one swoop and that was it no matter what, yet he said to Simonelli that he’d be back for more money from the City Council. That promise lasted what 3 months? I understand Code Enforcement lost an inspector but that department was understaffed even when that inspector was there.
