What happened about the white goods issue that Joe King brought up? My daughter decided to come in the room and talk through it. So, needless to say I didn't hear it.

Street sweeping, I am one of those people who is very diligent about parking correctly. I write which side to park on my calender from 4/1 to 11/30. I forgot one week and I got tagged. Rosa wants us to now get towed???????? What is she trying to do to us? I don't get it. Most people are very good about the street cleaning parking and the ones that are habitually parking wrong get tagged and towed now.

The Audit?????????????? April 23, I guess that will be it. Why are they going into Executive Session? I thought it is a public record.

It is suppose to be public record but maybe we are not bright enough to understand it so they need to go behind closed doors so it can be explained to them so they can explain to us.

I have to watch the meeting again because as usual there was a little too much activity going on earlier in the evening. However . . . has this report been signed? It's the official, signed, final report? And if that's the case, did the Mayor not say that he was advised that once the report is an official, signed, final report, it's also a public document? So why the need for Executive Session?

The Mayor said law enforcement asked him to hold off for 30 days. He said it is being investigated by the AG, Sec of State, US Attorney and an US Attorney investigator. He also said the audit went back 3 to 4 years. Also said he would not disclose the departments that were audited. I thought he did that at a previous meeting. I took notes while the mayor was speaking. I would have never remembered it all.

Oh dear God . . . can this man not keep up with his own bull***t? Excuse me, but . . . this is just ridiculous. Yes, indeed, he did, at the last meeting, say four of the five departments that were being investigated. They were the Building Department, the Highway Department, the Procurement Office and . . . damn . . . I can't remember the fourth one. But yes, he did list four of the five. So . . . he really should keep records of what he says or, you know, have one of his translators with him.

I was trying to figure out why they would think the sticker program would stop people from dumping? The people who go to other towns and dump things do not care if we have a sticker ordinance or not. I do not see how it helps. If anything more people hold onto junk in their basements rather than pay to get rid of it. I know I have a washer I will be putting out soon.

I wish someone had asked if he had that request in writing. He's lied to the council before and I find what he's saying absurd. Whatever occurred 3 or 4 years ago, can't be undone now. So unless whoever is being investigated is a "flight risk", what's the problem? I think it's bull***t!

Last night the mayor said he is the only person who has read the audit, not even the attorneys have read it. If the attorneys have not read it, then why has it gone out to all these law enforcement agencies? I don't get what is going on. I also thought he said at an earlier meeting, I think he was talking about the "Draft," the attorneys had looked it over, but I could be wrong about that. I still don't understand calling a Joint Convention and going into Executive Session, when we paid for the audit. Why not let everyone hear about it at the same time, so the taxpayers know exactly what the elected officials know. I don't like these behind closed doors sessions, especially when it comes to something this important. It makes it look like they are trying to hide something.

I think he is trying to hide something and he just bought himself another month to try to wriggle out of a (self created) bad situation.

The council let him off the hook. It will be interesting to see if any of the potential predecessors on the Board of Alderman will push him the way they should!

From what I understand, the Council voted to do away with the fee for the "White Goods." I believe it now has to go to the Board of Aldermen. I really can't see it passing there but I could be wrong.

Can you imagine the junk that will be littering the streets if they do awa with the program?

And back to the audit for a minute. This just sounds like the screwiest thing the Mayor has come up with yet. For weeks now, he's been telling the City Council that once the final signed report is received from Melanson & Heath, he's going to immediately release it. Now all of a sudden every law enforcement agency in the state is involved in an investigation? I mean . . . did they find Jimmy Hoffa buried in the foundation of the new high school?

And since when can the mayor of a small city dictate terms to the US Attorney's office?

This whole thing smells worse than week old fish.

I am with you Citizen and why all of a sudden the Mayor can not reveal what he has already revealed as to the departments involved. What the heck is going on. What a headache!
Love the Hoffa line. LOL

Back to the "White Goods" for a minute. I don't know how much the program has stopped dumping, we have had to call City Services several times due to people leaving things on our street. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the program, I just don't think it stops the dumping. One thing I don't understand about the program, why do you have to pay in cash and what happens to the money that is collected? Just curious.
