After watching this meeting and its still on I have never seen a bunch of babies crying since they gave up the sea of blue that would be handicap signs every street is being shut down to these signs.
See this is what happens when power is giving up

| In the past, the disability commission would review an application for hp parking, make a recommendation, and submit its findings to the board that referred it to them (council or alderman). Often, because elected officials need the support of the applicants, they would override the recommendations of the disability commission. Therefore, the spots were not always assigned based on need or priority, it would often be a situation of preference based on familiarity. NOW the recommendations get sent to the traffic commission. (I could be wrong on that). All I know is the POWER goes to the commission less likely to make decisions for political gain. Elected officials like Marcus and Matewsky used to use them as bait for votes. McGonagle put something in the leader this week commending the council for approving the measure. |

ok you know I have to put my two cents in here.THIS SHOULD OF BEEN DONE YEARS AGO it only took a decade to do this. Every where you go a sea of blue signs and what pisses me off is that some not all have driveways. Now only if we can get the residential parking off and running this city will be a better place to park in. And as I was watching the meeting last nite I notice that they sent the new tax rate (if you will) to the finance committee after ragucci didn't want it sent there. I understand that this 2 million that was suppose to be used for the fire dept. but I am not sure. You know how rumors fly around this city. If anyone can answer fine its all to complicated |

| Lisa - you're absolutely right. My friend was on the commission for years and she used to get frustrated, because she would bet crap for all the spots - like the commission approved them – when it was the elected officials that pushed them forward. She said that other cities have better rules. I just lost half a foot to diabetes and mobility is almost non-existent for me. Forget about accommodations in this city, unless you count for a voting block. Since I have a small family - I get nothing. In Cambridge, for example, if you break your leg, and you will be laid up for say, 6 weeks. They have a method in place for a temporary HP spot. IN CAMBRIDGE - where parking is WAY worse then Everett. In Everett, we had elected officials argue for HP spots for people to get picked up and dropped off, for people that didn't have cars, for people that didn't even register their car in Everett. Unbelievable! Think about this.... this is ONE area of a whole charter that needs to be fixed. How many years are we going to piecemeal our procedures? Frustrating. |

Lisa; your favorite members of the Board of Aldermen voted to send a taxcut of 2 million dollars into committee. Yep, that's right. Our money....which was raised from homeowners and business owners could have had 2 million dollars applied to the tax levy, but a majority of the aldermen thought we should just suck it up this year and let them play their games. Yes, boys - people are watching.

I need tax relief.
The City Council is playing GAMES with our money. Their acceptance would have reduced our tax bills.
They are playing politics again. Leaving the decision to Mr. Hanlon. So he will look good after the new year.. That will be too late for tax relief in 2005.
I am sick and tired of all the political crap that affects me and my family personally in this city. This is a chance for me to save a few dollars on my tax bill, and the people I have voted for will not support this initiative?
You have no idea how pissed I am.
This city is not a good place to live now.

| they are not my alderman they are OURS and besides I thought this two million was grant money that was suppose to go to the fire dept. and the police dept. I could be wrong Ragucci said it was the unions and the medical and settlements that he settled. I'm not sure I guess I have to watch this meeting again I came into the meeting to late last nite. And wasn't it Keverian that gave wrong information about homes in trusts? It should be interesting on what the papers have to say I think someone said they were waiting for the Headlines. |

| Lisa - it wasn't grant money! Go online and read the alderman's calendar at the city website. The money is from certified "free cash", which is the money left over from the budget during the year. You're confusing the reasons why we had so much free cash left over at the end of the year, which was due to grant money and other settlements. This is OUR money that OUR Aldermen don't want us to have back. |

Well people, do we start a movement by calling our illustrious Aldermen and telling them how we feel?
Yeah, Carlo had it right that I want to pay for a Homecoming parade and not get a tax break..NOT!!!
I am very pissed off about this debacle.
Lisa and H1, hope your both feeling better.. |

| A friend of mine is going to city hall for some stuff early next week. She said she is going to ask for a list of how much our alderman pay in taxes - the same for our councilors. I think that should be public record. Who do you think would publish it? When I get the info I'll pass it on. Who voted to pick our pockets vs. what these people pay. Should be interesting. |

Nope, they don't have the balls to answer at all. If you listen closely to the thoughts of the aldermen, you would only hear "Now what did Fred say to do?"
Emile, I hope you got the DWHH a manicure for xmas.. ;>)
