You know, I got the impression from the Independent that the Ragucci administration lost count or otherwise weren't aware of the budgetary surplus until state certification. What happened there?

Michael; free cash is certified by the state every year by the DOR. I don't think anyone "lost track" of the money; my understanding is that until the state certifies the total, you don't have any final numbers and you are unable to spend it, tranfer it, or anything else. This occurs every year and the Independent's version was biased towards making it look like it was "found". You'd think after all these years of covering city government Josh would know better.

Oh Masterful1,

The pup is wonderful. When he's not typing for me, he's opening my beer bottles.

Things may have been different for the election if this money was mentioned prior to November 8.

I noticed Marchese was there to put the kibosh on the tax break. This is just another way of sticking it to David Ragucci. I can't believe that DeMaria was saying that we need parades instead of a tax break. Maybe the donut fumes finally got to him..

Don't forget the famous DeMAria quotes "Dogs are people too" and "They have a library at Northeastern but I didn't use it much".

He keeps getting reelected though.

Says a lot about the voters in this city.

Uh uh . . . it was a "liberry" they had at Northeastern, and he "never set foot in it." Not that we needed him to say that. It's kind of a given when you listen to him talk.

Please don't forget the all time classic DeMaria quote, "my muthas a woman; my wife's a woman. I like women."

Thanks for the correction and of the other quotes that I just quite could not remember.

We should publish a Book of Quotes on Everett politicians.

But that's another Topic....

I hadn't heard that one! That's too funny. I mean . . . you have to laugh; otherwise you'd just want to tear your hair out.

Jane, why is this a big deal? It's going to be very cut and dry.

Who's the assistant city clerk going to be? I assume Matarazzo will take the reigns as clerk?
