I read this on The Mirror and thought it comical.

The Mayor hired people to give tickets to cars that do not have the sticker. Maybe he should teach them where Everett boundaries are. They
put parking tickets on a whole street in Revere.

These people seem to be doing a pretty good job on enforcement of the sticker program. If they made an honest mistake the parking clerk will void the tickets in question. I hear the city is considering putting up "town - line " signs on the streets in the city that cross into neighboring towns. That should solve the problem.

I wasn't knocking the enforcement people, I just thought it was funny. Can you imagine the looks on the people's faces when they read the tickets............priceless.

I bet some of them won't even read them and end up paying down the line. The parking clerk has people come in every year in March asking where they pay the warning flyers left by the police for street sweeping before the actual enforcement starts. Some people are just clueless.

There is one thing I know the parking enforcement people are not doing. They are not checking the numbers on the stickers against the license plate. If they see a sticker they just go by. It has happened on my street.

AHHH, masdee, you may be asking too much job responsibility for minimum wage.

or

The numbers are unreadable on the stickers.

If you know Mr. Kelly call him and ask. The overnight parking people have written dozens of $300 tickets for putting the sticker on a vehicle it was not issued to. Maybe they are'ne getting them all. If you know of one report it to the parking clerk. He will alert the enforcement people to tag it for the fraudulet use ticket.

I was in City Hall when a man showed up with 4 $300 tickets. He couldn't understand why? Said his friend loaned him the yellow sticker. Question, why wait until you get 4 before looking into it.

You're one of the only people I've ever heard refer to him as Paul. Most people call him Mr Kelly. Friend of yours?

Don't know him, heard good things about him. The lady at the desk called for Paul to assist her with this guy, she didn't call him Mr. Kelly.

Here's my problem, tonight we had a family problem and are having an unexpected, overnight, out of state guest. Since City Hall is closed, I called the EPD and asked what I should do about overnight parking.. I was told there is nothing I can do because city government took it out of their hands and I will just have to take mt chances and I might get tagged. I was trying to do the right thing. I will go to City Hall tomorrow and pay for a visitors pass, and I'll probably end up with a $25.00 ticket to boot. They really need to fix this. I'm sure I am not the only person something like this has happened to. I'm not a happy camper right now. Oh yeah, the dispatcher at the EPD also told me that I have to know ahead of time when I am going to have an overnight guest, and have the make, model and registration for the vehicle. So now we all have to be able to predict the future and know on Monday through Friday if we are going to have unexpected company.

I have heard the police recently call over the radio for "parking consideration" for different reasons. One night it was a family death and there were relatives cars from out of town. Lots of time I hear them say it is for the Zion Church on Broadway behind Walgreens.

That kind of attitude from the police dept. is why the parking problem got as complicated as it did in the first place. They never wanted to do this job in the first place. Now that it is being done by someone else they are uncooperative. The best way to enforce the law is with the police dept. All laws. Traffic, parking, noisy people, drug dealing. As far back as Chief Bontempo they did not want to enforce parking. If the four issue I mentioned were enforced over the years Everett would be a different city.

It would be better if a group of 100 men with cars, raidos and weapons were enforcing the parking laws, but now that four people with pencils and flaslights are doing the job effectively the police dept have their noise out of joint and are uncooperative.

I must have missed something here. Where in that post does it say anything about the police being uncooperative ? If you happen to be up city hall ask Paul Kelly at the paking clerks office. You'll see stacks of parking tickets brought in every day written by the police. I think you are correct that they did'nt want the overnight job in the first place but there is plenty of parking enforcement going on.
