I'm with Emile on this one. I think Barrios has ADD when it comes to his career. This was, after all, a man who wanted to be a state rep. And he became one in 1998. After less than two terms, he decides that he wants to be Senator...and he allows Finneran and the boys to cut his district up without speaking with any of his constituents. So, he wins election to the Senate in 2002. He has no opposition in 2004....but in 2006, he decides he wants to be DA. When the going got tough - Jarrett "got going" - back to his senate seat, clearing the decks of all contenders. Here were are now in 2007, not even 6 months into his new terms - and now Jarrett wants to be President of BCBS Foundation. And yes, I know - "it's about the kids," but pardon my cynicism. He is still going to be working full-time, no? And let's be real - the state senate is a part-time job, with tremendous flexibility. So....if it's really about the kids, why not just stay home? Women make those decisions all the time.

I just think the "kids" excuse is just a means to deflect from the very real criticism that he ran for the job, chased out guys who were interested in it and then threw the voters overboard when he got a better deal. At the very least, this guy should be finishing his term after all that. I think he owes us that much.

Good morning, Emile, and thank you. I'm sure you're also aware that Phil Johnston, the former chair of the State Democratic party sits on the board at BCBS?

I hope you and the pup are having a great Memorial Day weekend.

Paul Dobbins,

Your buddy Galluccio has the exact same views as Barrios. Name the subject. Gay marriage, in-state tuition for your illegal immigrant friends and drivers licenses too. Or is he going to run one way in Cambridge and another in Everett!

My Dear Court,

Your post regarding Mr. Johnston seems to shed some light on Mr. Barrios' decision. Methinks that Mr. Barrios's political ambitions are not over, or, this job opportunity could be a kind thank you to Mr. Barrios for helping with the political agenda.

Hmmmm.....very interesting

We have had a very nice weekend, thank you.

Congratulations on your new appointment and to Citizen and Massdee as well.

Kindest regards to all,

The Pup

and

Emile,

I doubt that the fair-haired boy from Cambridge is done with politics. He speaks of shaping a healthcare agenda for poor peoople. Let's see if BCBS shares that "vision." The way things are going - we're all going to get poor by having to pay for it.

Barrios is an opportunist. He goes after races that are easy. If his spouse wasn't a democratic operative, Barrios would be just another token in a law firm or some other enterprise. It's tough for his bum kissers in Everett to accept this fact, but he's yesterday's news. He has been since he thought he was going to walk into the DA's office, and got scared when he realized he might not. He may run again for some opening that looks easy in the future but he'll just do the same thing.

He did a lot for Everett though. Was it him that got the state to keep the rotary and the rest of route 16 clean? Maybe he was working on an MBTA bus route that goes direct from Everett to Boston. Did he help reduce traffic from the bridge? I don't know. He did go to Harvard he must be smart enough to know what issues exist in Everett. I wonder what he thought about all the illegal rooming houses and all the businesses that employ illegal aliens. Maybe he thinks gangs and drugs add character to a city. Yes, he did so much for Everett. Helped keep the city going in the wrong direction. Maybe he thinks that's the right direction though, some do.

Oh wait minute he was right on top of the marshmallow fluff issue.

Barrios is an opportunist, which is why I think he is only done for today. The man really hasn't distinguished himself, but for some reason - he has a loyal following. I thought he was a two-note trumpet - all about gay issues and immigrants. I knew he tried to remodel himself and make himself "tough" on crime for the DA's race, but Gerry Leone's people had a lock on that.

I hope the next Senator actually understands the increasing struggle that Everett is facing - in terms of rising crime, uncounted "residents," and ever increasing taxes.

What we don't need is another bleeding heart liberal, this state already has enough of them.

And I thought I was the only conservative Republican in Everett. Now if we could only get rid of Kerry and Kennedy. That would be a trick I'd like to see some day.

I think today more and more people are voting for the person and not the political party they happen to be affiliated with. I feel neither political party cares what the masses want or need. It's all about the vote and to hell with what the country really needs. It is obvious with the illegal immigrant issue. Most citizens just want the immigrants to come into the country legally, and if a person is not here legally, he should be deported, file the proper paperwork, and reenter the country legally. It's really very simple, obey the laws of the land, problem solved.

I was reading the paper this morning and Deb Fallon for Senate more power to her but first she has to get her register out of new hampshire if she is living in Winthrop, I think I would start there first. It will be a very interesting race to say the least
