Fed Up, I don't know where you got your info from.
The following departments are were we actually cut salaries from.

Auditor- $57,651.00 non union
Purchasing- $5,000.00
Treasurer- $37,304.00
Solicitor- $67,371.00 non union
MIS- $3,428.00 non union
City Clerk- $17,680.00 non union
Facilities Maintainence- $17,877.00
Building Inspector- $33,811.00
City Services- $97,327.00
Board of Health- $9,200.00
Code Enforcement- 10,000.00
Libraries- $8,000.00
Recreation- $34,188.00

As you can see, there is no way that the money we cut justifies
cutting that many jobs, especially union. So if anybody states
that we are the cause of that many jobs being lost, they are mistaken.

Councilor, it doesn't appear that Fedup is the one blaming the city council, but certainly you realize that the mayor's fallback position is going to be to blame you. What needs to be done is to point out that while the city council made the money cuts, it is up to the mayor to apply those cuts responsibly, and given his track record, the mayor and his administrators are incapable of acting responsibly.

I would be interested to know what specific jobs are being cut. Does anyone have that information?

Councilor Mangan.......... or whoever you are. You and your fellow council members seem to have forgotten that you cut the dollars but, the clown in the corner office is the one to decide who's going to be affected by those cuts.

Your intent may have been to eliminate some of his newly created, unnecessary, overpaid positions. But that's not what your going to get. He'll cut real people, doing real jobs and lay their unfortunate circumstances at your feet.

Last year you all were foolish enough to fund positions that weren't going to be filled. Why is it not one of you questioned where that money was spent? You made cuts to the proposed 2008 budget, which certainly needed to be cut. Did you take a good look at what was actually spent this year and where? Without doing that, how could you possibly make an intelligent choice about where to cut? The answer is actually quite obvious. You couldn't and you didn't.

Now, he's playing the game and the ball is in your court. People are going to whine and cry about lost jobs and expect you and your pals to do something about it. It seems as if he's tossed you a ball of sh*t. Good luck.................. you're all going to need it. The man is obviously smarter (about some things) than I've given him credit for!

Concilor mangan - member - I am not blaming the Council or the Aldermen. What has been stated above is correct - the mayor will do exactly as he wants. He is a very angry man and he made a statement that he was not pleased with the budget cuts. From what I understand (I have not seen the memo), it is the union who wants the members to attend the Alderman meeting to let them know how upset the union is with the cuts. Sounds to me like the union is heading in the wrong direction. The anger should be directed at the mayor. The 20 cuts is the number that is floating around - supposedly 6-7 cuts from non-union and the balance from union employees. I do not believe that any union member should be laid off. I believe that his buddies with their inflated salaries should be let go. I also believe that more cuts could have and should have been made. Justme stated it correctly above - "he's tossed you a ball of sh*t".

Why no cuts in the parking department. I understand Al's wife is a new hire, non union, no longer needed, just another position in order to pay for their family insurance. Now that's a position that could be totally eliminated and save the city some serious money. There is so much sh&t going on, its no wonder why this city stinks.

I seriously doubt Mr Kelly would agree with your statement. If you spend some time in the vicinity of that office, you'll see that the four people there are busy all the time and are hard pressed to keep up with the workload.

I don't know what you consider serious money but, the salary for her position probably doesn't qualify. Try looking at the newly created jobs that are non working positions. (Can you say Ravanesi?) Those are the ones that need to be cut!

Sally - exactly where did Councilor Mangan say anything about Mr. DeMaria? I scrolled back and couldn't find a thing. Are you really going to go after Mr. Mangan for a typo/mispelling? 1) He's not running for mayor. 2) There are plenty of "carloisms" if you want those exploited. I think I can rummage through this site and find plenty of them.

I was speaking of the typo. I do not believe it is Mr. Mangan at all. And Mr. Mangan needs to go with the rest of them. Remember his campaign to pay the school committee??

Sorry for the typo EverettsPride. I am who I say I am. My numbers are 617-389-0265, and
617-877-0136. I moved to 14 Rosedale Ave on May 1st. Feel free to call me at anytime
if you like, and I will gladly defend any vote that I take. I look forward to
hearing from you.

Sally - I am not sure what Mr. Mangan's typo has to do with Carlo...so it's a little confusing. And given that the man has graciously issued you an invite to call him, I sincerely hope that you do. I disagreed profoundly with Mr. Mangan's campaign to pay our feckless school committee, but I can agree to disagree with him on the topic. (BTW, if that's a litmus test- how did Carlo and Joe vote on that?) I do know that Mr. Mangan voted for many of the budget cuts.

No, I will not be calling him since he showed by his vote to pay the puppets on the school committee, that he does not care about the taxpayers of this city.

EverettsPride, I guess you will not be voting for any incumbent then. I will say it again.
Call me anytime and I will tell you in detail why I supported the salary. Your comment about
the taxpayers is a joke. If you watched the budget meetings, then you would know that. The
ball is in your court. I hope to hear from you.

Justme,I disagree, the work load has settled down. Rav's position isn't needed either, like so many of them.

I will not be calling you. Why are you worried about posting your reasons for voting for the puppets? Why cant you just tell us all on here? Does it have anything to do with the wrath of FFF? Just wondering. The budget cuts would have happened with or without you. I just do not get why you gave the puppets anything at all. They do not represent the children or the taxpayers of this city. They are all concerned with being friends of FFF.
