Moving on . . . . I honestly wish Carlo luck and hope he does well. The city needs to move forward. There is serious work to be done, and Carlo needs to have people around him who are serious about the business of the city. From the tax rate to the budget to business development, education, city services, code enforcement, the growing population, state aid -- so many critical issues that need serious people to deal with them.
As the new mayor, whether you supported him or not for election, Carlo is going to need the support and benefit of the doubt if he is to start off on the right foot with a new administration -- emphasize the "new." He promised a new beginning. For the sake of the health and future growth of the city, let's help him keep that promise. |

And you're never willing to back off or leave things alone, Sally. Stop picking at this. The subject has been tossed around enough and continuing the argument isn't going to change anything or any opinions.
It’s done. We’ll have a new mayor on January 7th. I’m hoping for good things from Carlo, including some major changes at city hall. Does anyone know whom he plans on replacing? Keeping? Bringing onboard?

There are a lot of rumors floating around, justme, but nothing that can be verified at this point. We all have our own ideas about who should not longer be there, that's for sure; it's going to be interesting to see what the make up of this new administration is going to be. |

Yes Citizen, I think we’re all holding our breath waiting to see if Carlo sold us out to get the hanlon vote. I think he’ll do the right thing and dump the non-performers and unqualified people currently taking our tax dollars and giving us little or nothing in return. He has to know that if he does anything less he’ll also be a one-term mayor! |

justme, I agree, I think Carlo will do the right thing and replace the unqualified people with his own people. I hope he will have smart, savvy advisor's around him and they get our city moving in the right direction, once again.
I also agree with Citizen, Carlo will need the support of all of us. |

justme, when I am called a liar I will not back off. Funny I was talking to a client today who had the same story about the bar.

Carlo will put his young friends in positions of responsibility.
It's payback time for all the political work from Carlo's supporters.
The next two years will be a replay of the last two years.
Carlo is easily influenced by others and it will show.

Emile, are you suggesting that Carlo is going to make the same mistakes Hanlon made? You are being a bit premature in passing judgement. Carlo is going to hire people if they are QUALIFIED, it is that simple. Just sit back and watch and enjoy the show. If someone from his campaign is QUALIFIED for a position and they submit a resume, then that is up to Carlo. But Carlo would be foolish just to give someone a job just because they helped him campaign. By the way Emile, do you even know Carlo ? I don't think so, so how can you speak of him and his plans. I think that is quite ignorant on your part. |

Of course I am suggesting Carlo will make the same mistakes. He has no idea what is really going on or what it takes to be an effective mayor.
You can believe that we will all sit back and watch the show.
I have known Carlo for over a decade. I have spoken to him many, many times, I have listened to his poorly spoken diatribes in chambers and am quite aware of many of his many, many indescretions. I know him quite well. Nice guy, but definitely in way, way over his head.
Every mayor says his friends are QUALIFIED for their positions. Let's see if Carlo puts any jobs in the Boston Globe help wanted. That would be the true measure of the man who the voters elected.
So it appears the ignorance is on your part, AVGMOM, to be presumptuous.
I do not know you AVGMOM and I am surprised that you attack me personally. Carlo is a public figure by choice and open to public scrutiny.

Come on Emile...He isn't even in the office yet.....how can you be critical? It sounds like you are tryimg to influence Carlo by posting on this forum You would have had more luck with that if you had stood next to hm with a sign or knocked on a door. |

I am curious to see if Carlo will hold himself to the high standards that his supporters have set for him.
Time to make the donuts!

So what you're saying is that a taxpayer and resident can't influence the mayor-elect unless he/she's stood next to him with a sign or knocked on a door? funny, you weren't exactly advertising that fact prior to the election, were you?
Relax, Dominic - I'm just busting them, but you guys are going to have to be careful. Everything you post will be analyzed very, very carefully.
I'm actually hoping that Carlo aspires to be better than his history. Emile. Of course, I had hoped that about John Hanlon. Time will tell. |

You guys are already judging carlo and he isn't even in office. You are so naive to think that if Joey won than he wouldn't be putting all of his supporters in city hall. It's the way life is. "To the victor goes the spoils" |

Throwing out the baby with the bath water isn't the answer, either, Charm. There are some good, hard working people at City Hall . . . and you need people there who know what's going on. There are definitely some that should go, but the key to being a successful leader in any business is having the ability to recognize those who should stay and those who should get the boot and having the willingness and fortitude to make those tough decisions |
