I have not heard this yet. I don’t always get the paper. Will we need to go see the parking clerk yet again? I know the parking clerk is open on Thursday nights but that is the one night I can work overtime if I elect. It’s not that bad, it’s just a nuisance. |

I think it's too early to be telling all our friends about new stickers charm. I was in City Hall last week and Mr Kelly said the stickers are "on order" and he doesn't know when they'll be arriving. He said there will be announcements in the paper and on cable when they're ready to start giving them out.
Tails, City Hall is open Monday nights, not Thursday.

There's nothing wrong with being prepared but, as busy as that office is, they don't need people going in looking for stickers that haven't been delivered yet................. |

Hopefully they will post more information on ECTV, the papers and on cityofeverett.com I just looked on the website and it’s not there, yet. However, this is on the website:
Please join Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr. for the 1st Annual Fire Victims Benefit January 26, 2008 7:00 PM
Anthony’s of Malden 105 Canal Street Malden, Massachusetts Admission: $15
Tickets can be purchased by visiting City Hall Room 31 or by sending a check to:
The City of Everett Fire Victims Account Everett City Hall, Room 31 Everett, MA 02149
That’s a really good thing to do.

Is this for the families involved in the Main Street fire or is it an account set up for fire victims throughout our city? |

That's a good question massdee. It does not specify. Under this announcement it shows photos of the Main Street fire on December 5th. There have been a lot of fires in 07. I “think” it’s an account to be set up for fire victims throughout the city. |

And do I just go to City Hall again to retrieve this sticker? And could someone tell me why again it is being changed? Is it a yearly type of thing? |

I disagreed with you then charm, and I disagree with you now.
Yes home, it's an annual thing. I believe you need to bring your registration to show the vehicle is registered in the city. |

I spoke with the parking office. You do need to bring your registration to city hall and get a new sticker. You will have to pay ten dollars if you don’t get it by the end of February. You’ll get a ticket if your parked on the street without it. As justme mentioned, it is annual to alleviate all the non-registered vehicles on the street. |

I went to city hall today to get my new parking sticker. I felt bad for Mr. Kelly. There was a woman in front of me that was yelling at him because she would have had no way of knowing about the stickers if she wasnt in city hall doing other business. He told her it’s on ECTV. She yelled back at him she doesnt watch ECTV then he said it’s been in the papers and of course she yelled she doesnt read the papers. Why cant they mail out notices to every home in the city? If you havent picked it up the sticker yet they are blue and you put them on the front windshield, driver’s side bottom left. He said if they are not placed on correctly, you will get a ticket for that too. |

Come on Tails, should he really have to mail a notice to every household in the city? It's on cable, will be in the paper and the night people are putting fliers on cars. Isn't that enough? If I remember correctly, the excessive cost of mailing the stickers the first year the resident program was in place is one of the reasons (not the only) we have to go to city hall to get them now.
It seems to me, there's plenty of information available to anyone who pays attention to what goes on here in the city. I have to ask.......... At what point should people take responsibility? |

just me - the city should create an announcement newsletter that goes out with the tax bills, exise and residential- each time. (every now and again we get a notice, but not always) Every other city manages to do this and Everett should take advantage of the fact that they are now mailing quarterly bills. It gives them four opportunities a year to communicate to communicate with its citizens.
Personally, I don't blame anyone for not reading the local papers. There's little news and more vitriol and spin served up each week. Do you? |
