The City Council doesn't approve appointments, only the Board of Aldermen.

Item #5 was sent down to the BOA from the mayor's office. I was just curious who the appointee is.

Item #4 - "Gone are the days when city employees are hired because of their acquaintances instead of their qualifications." I guess appointees to boards aren't considered employees. Seriously, I thought that Magnan actually improved during his time as a councilor, although the association with FFF always bothered me. I thought that he might have a good chance to pick off one of the Ward 2 council seats; once again, it proves what I know.

Item #5 - Thanks, but no thanks. Really.

Item #6 - Confirms what the budget already told us. Wasn't aware that this was an appointment that required a confirmation by the BOA but it is. (City Ordinances, Section 2-286, Paragraphs (a) and (b)).

Item #7 - Wonder if there can be any more to this than meets the eye. Probably just being paranoid.

Item #8 - Think the status is wrong again. Since the CC amended this on Monday, wouldn't it need to be enrolled by the BOA this week?

Item #13 - I doubt Matewsky will be happy with this recommendation. Wonder if he showed up at the Traffic Commission meeting to support it? Bet he motions to refer it back to Traffic.

Item #16 - I hope that this got referred back to sponsor only because something was already in the works on this. The streets will never get better if this ordinance isn't enforced.

Item #17 - Want to hear how this turns out.

Items #18 and #28 - The city needs to seriously look at ideas like these.

Item #21 - I read that the House unveiled their version of Jessica's Law last week. The most detailed report I could find on it is at this link: You must be logged in to see this link.

Item #22 - Say it with me Massdee. Let's wait and see what happens.

Item #25 - Ditto Item #22.

Items #26 and 27 - This week's face time items. Please just pick up a phone instead.

Still no update on the concerns about the city solicitor's position that were going to be brought to the Ethics Commission four weeks ago. Oh well, have to accept that the wheels at the state move very slowly, I guess. In regards to the maximum salary that can be paid to city solicitor, according to the FY09 budget, they are going to get around that by paying her out of the mayor's budget as chief of staff.

Item #6 - Guess the rumors were correct about certification. The notification issue is black eye material.

Item #13 - Knew he probably didn't show at Traffic; got the motion wrong though. Does the left hand know what the right is doing in this city anymore i.e., the city already has approval from Mass Highway to reduce the speed limit?

Item #16 - Would have liked to know why this got referred back to sponsor.

Item #17 - I guess the issue got taken care of this weekend. The cease and desist order should take care of it but who knows.

Item #22 - Big surprise that no one from the Post Office showed up and nothing is going to change.

Item #25 - I think that Mayor handled this item in the proper manner.

Items #26+27 - Yeah, RVC! Matewsky and Marcus just don't get it. Hey Wayne, nice language.

How does the city not know who owns a piece of property in the city. Who is paying the taxes on this property?

I agree item 25 was handled in a proper manner but I do not understand what changed from the time Thibeault wanted to come forward with his attorney Tony Rossi with the plans, and now the Mayor is not sure who owns that property? What would be the sense of having him come up if he does not own the property?

As RVC pointed out, it's pretty easy for someone in city government to find out who owes the property. The mayor probably knows the facts but didn't want to get into them as the city has no part in the sale of that property. I got the sense that the mayor isn't pleased with the way that things have been playing out.

Tetris, what do you mean when you said, "I got the sense that the mayor isn't pleased with the way that things have been playing out."

Also, none of the BOA asked about the litigation with the city. I thought no one could speak of this before because of that. I wonder if/when it was settled.

Just the relocation of Wood Waste...has gone from a plan that Mayor has championed for long time to something that he is unsure that can even happen. More potential black-eye material.

It is the Mayor that should know these things. I cant see it happening and it should not happen. Maybe and only maybe "if" he had been a good neighbor but he has shown how arrogant and callous he is and there is an ordinance prohibiting that type of facility there..... so why the Mayor is doing this and tying up three lawyers on it, is beyond me.

I also wanted to comment on the Clayton Carlisle appointment and say thank goodness that we have RVC and Chuck DiPerri. I think the timing of letting Mr. Pedulla go with the budget hearings coming up is bad.
