Tetris,
I just finished watching the Chamber Chatter program. You are correct, The Mayor never refers to Mr Thibeault by name. The Mayor only refers to him as "the developer."
One other thing I would add about lower Broadway, the Mayor said about Wood Waste relocating, "is a hot bed issue if you are a blogger." I hope the Mayor realizes it is more than just bloggers that have concerns on this issue.
The Mayor also mentioned that the dredging down there was to perhaps put a marina in. I have no doubt that is what the Mayor is being told, but I do doubt that we will ever see a marina, but I could be wrong. |

Either the developer, Wood Waste or he. Don't think he did during the campaign, either with the obvious exception of the infamous alderman's meeting. I don't know...I just find it strange.
If you notice, he also called the marina a deep water port. Not something that would be needed for what most of us would envision as a marina for that location. |

I haven't seen the program yet..but relocation seems to imply that it is MOVING from one place to another....which would mean no more open air piles of recycled construction waste next to my super market. Excellent |

Not to get off topic......but...
Has anyone been down to the Wendy's on the parkway lately? Maybe it was the warm weather, but I was at the drive through last night and there had to be atleast 150 teenagers/young adults hanging out in the parking lot. There were others drag racing down the streets (someone was actually timing them). There wasn't a police car in site. |

They do that every night in the nice weather. The cops are always down there chasing them out. They race across the parking lot and into Chelsea when the cops come. The cars are in Stop and Shop parking lot and there are always kids hanging out at Wendy's too. They buy the food they can eat in the parking lot. But I know from witnessing it and hearing the scanner that the cops are always going down there to get the racers to move on.

I don't think you could get a deep water boat down there. When the tide is out most of that area is dry. Hoe he would get a marrina down there would be very hard I think |

I think the mayor was just trying to sell everyone the idea of Wood Waste moving down to lower Broadway. |

I had an opportunity to watch the show over the weekend for the 1st time. I find it amazing that nobody here has mentioned the fact that the budget looks like it will not include an increase. Skyrocketing health care and fuel costs.....less than expected aid from the state....and the budget stays the same. Impressive.
Here's an idea for a poll question:
How many ways can the establishment find to poke holes in such a positive statement as the one above:
A) 0 B) 1 C) 2 D) 3 E) As many ways as Aesop has fables |

While I agree the budget was bloated last year....and as Mayor DeMaria has already mentioned, a lot of that was not Mr. Hanlon’s fault. He was the one that was stuck with all the under funded accounts, the number of police and fire were not where they were suppose to be because we didn’t have enough for a city this size, so even if Mr. Hanlon was re-elected, you would not have seen an increase this year from ANY Mayor and if you did, there would have been a serious problem. Carlo got very lucky....he walked into this very easy....had everything handed to him... and the no increase in budget is not thanks to Carlo, it just happens to work out that way. I have yet to hear one thing that CARLO did not to have an increase in budget this year. |

Gee, I believe I had the first post in this thread and surprise, surprise, I believe I mentioned the information given about the budget during the program. Did I go into detail about it. No. My original intent was to get people to watch the program and try to get some discussion started about any or all of the topics covered on it. I only commented on specific issues when was I expressly asked to and I only complied because the futuring airing dates of the program were unknown at the time. Unfortunately, very little discussion is going on this board right now; can't fathom why that is.
In my opinion, I think that your last question sums up the bottom line about the budget, for now at least. |

just wondering......... And............How can you make that statement without even seeing the budget? Again, I have not heard one thing that CARLO did, not to have an increase in budget this year. Maybe firing Rick Milley and Walter Rice (two very good men...by the way) helped out so he can justify the high salaries of his assistant, the budget director and the "Executive" City Services Director. We have NEVER had salaries like that in this city and that is not fair to the taxpayers. Perhaps your not an Everett Taxpayer because if you were, you should be a little ticked off right now that your paying for this and it's unnecessary. Why dont you ask Carlo what "Hanlon added positions" were let go. You wont, because you know that's the guys in the mayors office. The only people he let go were people that had to be replaced and were replaced with ridiculous salaries for all the wrong reasons. One reason...The budget director and his knowledge of landfills was for Thibeault. Again, you must not live in Everett to accept something like this. I find it hard to believe someone could just care less about their neighbor and the neighbor’s welfare. I don’t want that poison going into the waters either and that’s exactly what is going to happen with Thibeault's callousness. Let’s stop it before it happens.
Incase you need some reminding concerning the wetlands You must be logged in to see this link. and before we go with the enclosure, Boston Street should be enclosed first but it wont be with his non-compliance. He needs to get out of town and have other businesses and business owners there.

you are correct Tetris....you did mention it 6 days ago, my apologies for not catching that fact....But that actually helps make my point. You posted 6 days ago and nobody has said anything about the budget.....yet people like Tails continue posting those tired old links about Newburyport. There has always been a concern about the budgets rising. The man goes on tv and says that while there is much work left to do, it appears that the budget will not increase. I find that statement to be impressive given that costs on numerous fronts are out of control.
So while we are on our way to the correct answer of the poll being E.....I'll ask another question:
In the same program, the mayor mentioned that he was putting together a committee of citizens, small business owners etc to help provide input on various topics that effect the city. I think this is a huge leap forward and 180 degree change from business as usual at city hall. Am I right to be excited by this or have I drank too much kool aid?

Tails......ward 6....that's where I live. Matter of fact, walked to Richies Slush tonight and grabbed myself a maple walnut ice cream with chocolate sprinkles about 90 minutes ago. The walk back home was terrible though....it's amazing how much garbage is lying around the hills near the rotary.
But I digress....
The budget director was hired for his knowledge of landfills? That remark solidifies my belief that you have your head squarely jammed up your behind. |
