8. + 9. So the state auditor ruled back in September that the state must pay for the special elections. The primary has come and gone and the state still hasn't committed to the funding. How typical! I think it falls into the category of I'll believe it when I see it. God knows where they'll come up with the money though.
10. It doesn't sound like the Charter Commission is going to get a blank check from the City Council. The commission would do well to come with a budget proposal soon and plan their proposed expenses wisely.
11. A good point was made that there is already some extra money available in the City Services Salary line item due to the Water Superintendent position being vacant for at least eight weeks. Why transfer more money than you'll need? Yes, it can be transferred out at any time and will ultimately it will come back if it is not spent. I just don't see the need to start off with more than you need.
26. You want permission to stay open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and you can't be bothered to show up to a meeting? The right thing was done by voting this down.
27. Seems like the Mayor didn't know as much about this as he claimed that he did last meeting or at least he didn't explain it the same way as it was explained last night. Also, it shouldn't be so hard for the administration to get their numbers to jive between departments. Not a lot of praise for the Board either. You'd think that a resolution had never been changed to an order before. All that said, I'm not at all sure that the program will have much success. When it's pretty much acknowledged that the city can't collect on these tickets even when they go to court, what's going to motivate anybody to pay them?
28. I don't see the issue of the Norwood Street Municipal Parking Lot going away any time soon. Sounds like the new Glendale Square.
29. We've heard from the Chief in the past on what his feeling are about doing something about the trash pickers; I doubt that it has changed.
30. Hall Ave. was on the list of streets that water work was supposed to be completed on this year. I wonder what really happened there? I believe that this was being done with grant money. Doesn't that have to be spent in a certain time frame?
35. Only one more Matewsky meeting to go. He still doesn't get it after all this time. BTW, there probably is a difference between a curb cut and a handicap ramp, Alderman. Better make that phone call. |

Theres a planning board meeting at 7:30 Monday night. He is a 30 year old developer from Lynnfield who is the nephew of Woodwaste owner. When asked before what he plans to develop there he refused to answer. Interested parties should attend. Funny it's all on the same night as the aldermans meeting and the GE road joint convention. |

I just read this on Topix:
"There is a planning board meeting Monday night at 7:30 for a developer to build on the route 99 site that the Woodwaste owner is currently in litigation for. This “new” developer is the 30 year old nephew of William Thibeault and this all plays into sync with the $25,000.00 anonymous gift to the mayors office. This 30 year old nephew is a front for his uncle and this is against every state ethics law and should be reported immediately. Woodwaste will not give up until he gets what he wants with the help of his friend, Carlo Dimaria. Let it happen people and you will see a dump 30 acres long on 99. Hold your representatives accountable. Especially those who tried to sweep the issue under the rug and tried to cover up Woodwaste's nasty deeds!!"

2. I think what happened last week after I posted about this item proved my point. If there is anything suspicious about an anonymous donation, it's likely to find its way to the surface. Let see if the aldermen follow up on it.
18. This piece was first introduced under suspension back on May 11th and referred to R & O. It remained in R & O until September mainly because the last R &O meeting before the summer recess got canceled due to the lack of a quorum. It got referred to the Planning Board on September 28th and is just coming back for a public hearing now with a recommendation for negative action. With the legislative session at an end, it's not likely that this piece is going anywhere. Whether you agree with the piece or not, it seems like it was all a waste of everybody's time.
19. + 20. No new insights on either of these pieces. I wonder if either of them are going anywhere or if they are just back on the agenda because it's the end of the legislative session. We'll just have to wait and see.
23. I'm not a big fan of what I know about the present Health Care Reform bill. But I'm also not a fan of largely symbolic pieces by the the Everett City Council either. The only thing that members of Congress seem to listen to are voters at the ballot box and that power isn't used very often in this state.
Exactly why is the Inauguration being held at 5:30 P.M? The timing doesn't make it very accessible to those of us that work and would have liked to have attended. I can't imagine that it works very well for the elected officials who hold other jobs either. |

If, as has been implied, the donor is known (by someone), doesn't that information have to be on file somewhere? If it's on record somewhere, then it's not really anonymous. Is it?
Well Justme.....you were absolutely correct. It's really not an anonymous donation since anyone can find out under public records law. |
