Shots all around, my friends!!!!
Kay Hicks stands up and complains that they haven't cut enough, after having voted no on practically cut and offering no proposed cuts of her own????
Welcome to the Mad Hatter's tea party. |

Faia is the Norm Crosby of Everett politics.
Some of the votes seemed so random tonight. Why not cut at least the equivalent of the department head raises across the board. All of them did pretty well last year. I know that the mayor has to implement the cuts as he sees fit and the department heads may not get cut at all but at least cutting each department's salary line item equally only seems fair.
Why did Leo McKinnon finally bother to show up at this point in the process? That guy just makes my skin crawl.
In the course of this whole process, how many of the members of the CC and the BOA actually suggested any cuts? The ones that didn't should be ashamed of themselves. |

Not many, tetris. Not many at all. The whole thing was a sham. I've seen better stage productions put together by first graders |

Looks like the rosa diflorio show to me.
I'm sorry, but I don't think this crew has got a clue about what they're doing. They've cut salt & snow plowing which is fine if they can guarantee another mild winter like this year. If we have a normal winter, we won't be able to get out of our driveways!
We're paying for the purchasing agent to take the necessary courses to become certified & he won't be employed here next year so another city or town will benefit from that expense.
I also can't believe they can't find enough fat to leave the non union employees 3% increases alone. I just got my annual increase and with everything going up, I figure it's a wash. I don't believe anyone should be forced to go without a pay increase of some sort.
Bottom line ................. this whole thing stinks & if the BOA don't concur tomorrow night, hanlon wins. Now doesn't that just make your day? |

I would guess that at least 60 - 65% of the cuts came from Rosa. She even pointed out this evening that salary cuts should be across the board. Cynthia, Mike Mangan and Sal more than likely made the rest of the cuts. Chalk one up for the mayor and his cronies. Unfortunately for us taxpayers, there isn't much the BOA can do tomorrow night except approve tonight's fiasco. |

No one should have received anything more than a 3 percent pay raise..Walking Eagle methinks is trying to bump up his friends retirement accounts.. |

Well . . . they'll be resourceful, Masterful1 . . . . as long as they don't practice on the furniture!!
I agree, massdee . . . I believe Mangan has finally seen the light.
I agree with you all, my friends, that this entire budget process has been a colossal disappointment. I'm afraid the city council actually waited too long to take proper action and found themselves backed into a corner, and at the end of the day, we'll be the ones who pay. |

Next, the mayor will reinstate the residential tax exemption, so he will come off looking like a hero. The political games have definitely begun. |
